6 Steps To Apply For A Builder’s Licence / registration In Australia
Be prepared before you apply!!

Provide evidence of current/previous licence/trade/supervisory certificates

You will be asked to provide Statements of Practical Experience and References from Employers, Contractors, etc
The aim is for you to provide enough relevant evidence to provide the licensing authority with a solid profile of your level of skill and understanding of construction and building.

Provide References
The relevant forms are provided online with a list of questions and answers that will need to be completed by each referee. You may need to include some character references (these are written statements from friends or associates involved with the construction industry, who will vouch for your ethics and character as a person and tradesperson).

Insurance (Home Warranty) Eligibility
Depending on the type of licence/registration you are applying for.

Technical & Management Qualifications
Depending on the State or Territory, the qualification varies from a selection of Units of Competencies to a Certificate IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma Qualification supported by a Transcript of Academic Record (Record of Results). If providing copies of certificates you may be required to have them verified prior to submitting your application

Proof of Identification
This needs to be Photo ID e.g. Drivers Licence or Passport
- Some Authorities require Financial Evidence for which you will need to provide documentation and sign a Statutory Declaration.
- Some States require you to be interviewed and/or complete a written examination.
