Becoming A Registered Building Practitioner Or Building Contractor In Western Australia

How To Become A Registered Builder In WA

Practitioners And Contractors

In accordance with the WA Dept. of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety, you have the ability to become either a contractor or a practitioner. The primary difference here is that a Practitioner is an individual and may not provide building services directly to another person whereas a Contractor can be for an individual or a business that is trading as a builder, and provide services requiring a building permit with a value of $20,000 or more and are within the Building Services Boards Jurisdiction

There are several ways to become a registered Building Practitioner in WA. At Back to Basics Business Training our CPC50220 – Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) qualification, combined with 5 – 7 years of relevant experience, fulfills WA’s requirements to become a registered Building Practitioner.

Becoming a Contractor carries far more requirements including questionaires on business process, confirmation of ability to support workers and financial viability statements.

For more information, please contact us on the form below or see the WA Dept. of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety website.
