Becoming A Licensed Builder In QLD

How To Become A Licensed Builder In Queensland

Restricted, Low, Medium And Open

In accordance with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission website, there are options for Low and Medium Rise Licences and Restricted Licences (including shopfitting, Kitchen/Bathroom/Laundry, and Structural Landscaping) as well as Project Management and of course the Open Builders Licence in QLD. Additionally, there is the option for a supervisor’s licence in each of the main 3 categories (Low, Medium, Open).

In order to complete the vast majority of general residential works, either a Low or Medium Rise licence is required. To obtain these, a CPC40120 – Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) is required for the Low Rise, and a CPC50220 – Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) is required for the Medium Rise. You must also be able to show 2-4 yrs of demonstrated work history, work history references, and meet the minimum financial requirements.

As Back to Basics has been working with the Queensland Construction Industry for over 25 years, we have developed a number of courses that are designed specifically for Queensland including the QLD Restricted Builders Licence course and both the Low Rise and Medium Rise Site Supervisors Courses.

Back to Basics is here to help you with the education requirement of your QLD Builders licence as our courses are not only nationally recognised, but they are also compliant with the requirements set out by these guidelines.
